Ambitious Ambitions

You could say that I daydream a lot!-Well actually-The Truth is-well, not really- I don't daydream, I just glue my mind to thinking about what I would be like, where would I go, in the future! I have ambitious ambitions and I don't really want to speak them all out to my friends because they're not supporting or encouraging me whenever I do so, instead some throw me a mocking face. They just don't like it and take it as a joke but I'm serious! I'm always lost in thoughts, but that doesn't make me absent-minded!
When I grow up, I would have pet cats. Two of them would be Birmans. Birmans are my favourite breeds! They are intelligent and adorable cats! So, I would have a male Birman and name him Cheshire, the female one would be Saphira. Saphira, why Saphira? That's because Saphira is the blue dragon in the Inheritance Cycle, she has the boldest and bravest character in all of the four books. Cheshire is a nice name you see, I got it from watching Alice in Wonderland.
Before I settle down in a country and find a job and all those, I would take part in volunteerism before travelling around the globe! Volunteerism is the act of volunteering to help other people in need. You can volunteer to work in a poor country on behalf of charity or you could also teach the children English there! I would prefer to teach the poor village children English and maybe other subjects once they've mastered the basics of English :D Nowww, travelling round the globe? Most interesting part? Well, everyone loves to travel, let's just exclude the jetlag and vomitting part, and the ear pain in the aeroplane, alright? I'd love to start trekking the globe with...Europe! Switzerland! United Kingdom! Extravaganza idea ;D! I've always wanted to study in Switzerland, it's just my favourite country and I have no single idea why! United Kingdom is a modern place yet it doesn't neglect it's history and culture! Too bad the U.K. is facing political problems and economic crisis.
When I settle down somewhere,I would live in a cozy little bungalow home by the sea in some Western town where everyone lives there as a lively and polite community. Probably, I would ask my parents to come over and live with me too! This whole idea sounds fun and exciting, right? Well, I would love to try out different kinds of adventures if it wasn't for my phobia of heights and falling from heights! :9 I should start facing my fear and learn how to climb on my friend's roof from her balcony, which is a much safer way of training myself because you can't fall that easily, the roof isn't slunted, it's straight, and nah, I don't think I will die. Touchwood, and I'm being a little literal.

What I Would Love To Have

Well, humans are never satisfied with what they have, aren't they? So am I. I was at a Chinese desserts restaurant, "Guilingao", and I drifted off, thinking about what I'd love to have for my upcoming birthday. I love cats, and it actually started when I visited Amril's house. Her house used to be full of cats and kittens alike. Unfortunately, a few months ago all the mother cats had an injection that made them unable to give birth to kittens. I wished I could have pet cats like she has. She gets to take photos of them all the time! I also hoped that I could get a nice Canon, not necesarrily a DSLR, but something similair to it. I'd love to have a Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood poster too! I'm a fanatic of that anime, it's the BEST so far!! I would also love to get The Hunger Games Triology bookset. I want to read the three books, at most the first book, before I watch the movie. Or maybe an origami or arts and handicrafts book could do, but they're rather expensive and no one really would think of getting any of the mentioned items for me! I just pray that I would get them all one day... :)

Peer Pressure

Honestly, I don't bear any jealous or hatred feelings towards my friends but sometimes I feel peer-pressured by them. I know they don't intend to do it and they don't feel the way I feel, but I...I just easily feel that peer pressure feeling!
I know I'm awesome in my own way, being me is always the best but sometimes I can't bear to envy how my friends know everything, been there done that, has that, has this, and all that. It sometimes annoys me that they don't realise that I feel unhappy when they go over their limits and boast over it and leave me left out, in dry space that is. I don't blame them for that but I just have to admit it! It's the fact! I know they are many people like me out there...so I discovered tips on how to avoid peer pressure! I don't know if it works because I'm not fond of reading things online (I prefer books and books and books! ;]  )
So, here are some useful tips I found on ehow.com  :

  • Build self-esteem. Confidence in one's own abilities and actions can naturally deter peer pressure, since fear of shame or embarrassment is a leading reason why individuals give into it.
  • Know and respect your personal limits. Having a strong idea of what your goals and abilities are can help your refuse undesirable propositions.

  • Surround yourself with people with whom you share similar values. Finding friends with the same values as you can help reduce the amount of peer pressure you may experience. At the same time, avoid people and situations that can tempt you to do things you normally wouldn't want to do.
  • Remind yourself about the possible negative consequences that can come from giving into peer pressure. Many consequences are scenario-specific, but giving into peer pressure can also result in a loss of self-respect, strained relationships and trouble with authority figures.
  • Practice standing your ground. Imagine scenarios in which peer pressure could become an issue. Formulate predetermined responses. Find a trusted friend with whom to role play. Use confidence, humor, flattery, challenges and topic changes to find ways out of the undesirable situations.
  • Find a confidante. Talking about temptations with someone whom you can trust can help you cope with them.
  • Base your decision-making on your own individual personality. Acknowledging your values, belief systems, thoughts, feelings and preferences can help you avoid bowing to peer pressure.

Unfortunately, the person I always talk to with do give me peer pressures.

    Friday

Well, last Friday I really felt dull and tried to fight off boredom by doing this!

    --NO BOASTING INTENDED--

    April Blues

April is here! My birthday month! Hooray! April has always been my favourite month of the year, well...maybe it tied with December.
Happy April Fools Day! ( and happy bday to my friend Wiagil)
I was hoping that my dad would at least bring us somewhere since it was a Sunday...hopefully to the capital (which is an hour and 30 minutes drive from my home here) to watch some movies like The Hunger Games and Mirror Mirror, a comedy version of Snow White. But instead, he stuck his nose into his Lenovo laptop, typing and replying emails from his clients. And well, you see, it's all about work! April is his busiest month of the year! I don't think he would even remember my birthday, which is this coming Sunday, 8th of April.
I super-duper-extremely-really-hope that something intesresting would happen on my birthday, or maybe Dad could bring us somewhere else than home. I sometimes get tired of home. There's really nothing to do! I can't stay with the laptop of IPad all day, right? My house is an apartment so I can't have a garden of my own! I can't have a trampoline or my own pet or something else...I silently hope that we could live in another house soon. My neighbours are the worst! I'm not a racist, but I have three Indian neighbours living next to my unit. One wears spectacles and goes to work everyday, one is a worker who wears a red suit everyday and the other one stays at home and talks on the mobile phone outside everyday. Apparently, the guy who works as some worker with not much monthly income/salary always stares at me when I go to school in the morning. He sometimes grin, like those, you know...sly and evil grins. He really creeps me out. The one who stays at home and always talks on the phone does the same thing, but I seldom see him nowadays. The one with an old-fashioned pair of specs often greets us if he sees us at the parking area.
Some other Malay and Indonesian workers live upstairs. I dislike them because they smoke and drink Red Bull and they also litter. Next door is a Pakistan family, they are alright. The father works daily and his wife, two children and mother-in-law often go back to their hometown in Pakistan and only come back a few months later. I think they do that once or twice a year. They have a toddler son named Omar, he's adorable, and a baby daughter, Aishah.
Living on the highest level is an Indian family, a couple and their young son studying at a nursery school called " A B C". The mother told my mum once that she lived in Dubai before coming to Brunei. My mum had described her as a friendly and bright person. The Indian father often greets us. So, I feel quite secure when I see them, same goes for the Pakistani family next door.
That's all for today! Remember, start fooling people before it's too late! :)

    Commonwealth

What I have been waiting for is finally here! The topics for the 2012 Commonwealth essay competitions are out! To my dissapointment, the topics weren't exciting. They were rather lame, and that is why young writers like us have to make these boring topics interesting with their creativity! Well, that's the bad part! I ran out of ideas!
    Firstly, check out the topics:

Pick a day From 6th February 1952 to the present.

Then, using one of the topics below, tell us about what happened!

1)The day I wore my best clothes.

    2)A feast or a festival.

3)An interview with an adult about a significant day in their life.

    4)A day's journey.

    5)A birth

OR a wedding OR a funeral.

6)My response to an event that made the news headlines.

    7)A sporting event.

    8)The day I met my hero/heroine.

Well, I don't see why I should write about the day I wore my best clothes. I only have casual tees and pants and nothing more interesting than that of a 13-year old. Feast or festival? I travelled a few times overseas to China in December, everything was dry and cold there and there wasn't any festivals going on. Plus, I don't recall having any pleasant feasts. An interview with an adult about a significant day in their life sounds more like an interesting topic, but I have to think about it for the moment. A day's journey, well I'm inexperienced and I never recall any day trips that were interesting though. A birth? NO. A wedding?  NO. A funeral? Maybe I could write about my Grandma's funeral in my father's hometown. I could describe the process of the funeral, which is done in a traditional Chinese procedure. But I haven't decided yet. My response to an event that made the news headline? Hey, I just thought that it would be interesting! But I still need to rack my brains and think about it. Well, I have certainly been to quite a number of sporting events...but who would want to read about me running feeling that the road is endless and all that lame stuff? Nothing interesting ever occured to me when I ran marathons or track events anyway. The day I met my hero or heroine? If I had a choice I would definitely pick a heroine, which most likely would be me, myself. It's quite a long story. Let's just say I always solved the challenges I faced on my own, and I sometimes insipired myself to be the person I really want to be. Oh well, nothing much interesting if I chose that topic too.

The word range? Well it's 300-700 words under category B, if I'm not mistaken.
THE WORST PART is that it MUST not be fictional! How devastating! Sorrowful! Dissapointment! Sad! Oh well, I can't argue, it's my fault for my lacking of ideas.

I am extremely serious in taking part in this essay competition and winning silver or gold place, because....the rewards are delicious :) Not to mention attractive and awesome!
Here are the rewards (It depends on your category and what you took part in: Film, Photography or Writing):

    • See your Jubilee Time Capsule entry presented to Her Majesty the Queen in 2012.

    • Win a certificate, cash or photographic equipment.

    • Win resources for your school.

    • Be flown to London.

    • Be invited to meet famous authors, film directors and photographers; take part in expert

workshops to learn new skills; and do work experience at international organisations.

    • See your entry exhibited around the Commonwealth and featured in worldwide media.

*Drools* I always wanted to go to London! (To be more precisely, the whole of EUROPE (: ) This could be a dream come true, what do you think? I hope there's a chance for me to fit into the winners category, not just the winners though, a silver or gold place would make me fully satisfied! Earning a certificate from the Commonwealth is a great benefit, especially when you are applying for colledges or universities overseas, right?! I find this really exciting! My friends, Amril and Tzeng Shuin, are stranded in thoughts and daydreams, we imagined that the three of us were one of the chosen winners! We even talked about what we would buy there...stacks of food and food and food and Paddington plushies! Meeting famous authors is one of the most intesresting part as well. I would love to get their autographs! And I don't care who! Other than that, we imagined meeting Queen Elizabeth and having high-tea with her! If so,we have to be well-mannered and learn how to curtsy and speak...BRITISH ACCENT. I love their accent. If I had their accent, I swear I will NEVER stop talking for the rest of my life. :))
Haha, I really wish this is a chance for the three of us. Going to London has been one of my listed must-visit places!

    So, Here Is It!

Here are my plans, I know they sort of stink, but what is there to do in such a small town? I can't blame anyone or anything, I suppose. :|

Upon seeing this, I suppose you would like to know what "BCATS" stand for. It originated from the word BCAT, which stands for Brunei Common Assessment Tests. For Year 7 and 8 students, every term we will either have to do a task individually, or in groups. Some tasks will be rather hard, yet some will be simple. BCATs are graded A,B,C and so on....On my first experience with BCAT, it isn't much simple as I had expected to achieve As, even though the tasks aren't so challenging.
